It's Been Awhile! On the Needles, September 25, 2015

Wow! Almost 4 months since my last post. Where does the time go? My only excuse is my job, which is seasonal, from May to October. I know lots of people have full time jobs, and still gets lots of other things done, but my job is very physical, and when I get home at night I'm too tired to do anything....most evenings even too tired to knit! Thank goodness it's almost over. October 19th is our last day of work, and then I can relax, and knit, and sew, and cross-stitch, and whatever else my heart desires! I do still have some knitting finishes since my last post. I want to knit a pair of socks for each of my grandchildren for Christmas, so far I have 2 pair done out of 7. I have 9 grandchildren, but the 2 youngest aren't getting socks.

I just finished a baby blanket for one of my co-workers, and I'm working on a baby dress for her as well.

On The Needles, June 5, 2015

Wow..... It's been almost 2 months since my last blog post. I have been doing a little knitting, but now that I'm back to work full time, the knitting time is severely restricted. I did manage to finish a pair of socks for my mom for Mother's Day, and last night I finished a pair for my dad for Father's Day.

I'm also working on a pair of Newfie Vamps for one of my co-workers. He and his wife both work with me, and she is hoping to be able to give them to him as a Father's Day gift. I have one sock done, hopefully I'll get the other one done in time!

As a long term project, I am making a sock yarn blanket from all my leftover sock yarn. I'm pretty sure it will be something I'll only work on during the winter.

On the Needles, April 10, 2015

The only thing I worked on this week was Serenity's birthday dress. Finally finished it today....good thing, as her birthday party is tomorrow. Can't wait to get a picture of her in her new dress.

On The Needles, April 03, 2015

I haven't done an "on the needles" post for a few weeks, but that doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. I am working on a little dress for my granddaughter's first birthday.
Serenity's Dress

This little sweater was finished in January, but I couldn't find the right color buttons for it. Finally found the perfect buttons and it is finished, although I do still want to make a matching hat.

One pair of socks finished, and another pair started.
No Purl Monkey Socks

My first pair of toe-up socks, magic loop
A couple of charity finishes, 1898 hat and a pair of mittens.

Oh, I almost forgot...I also started a corner to corner afghan (crochet) to try to use up some leftovers. I am a little further a long than the picture shows, but it's too dark to get a new updated picture.
As usual, head on over to Judy at Patchwork Times, to see more knitting goodness. Last but not least, I am looking for some sympathy, because we are expecting more snow again tomorrow! Another 15 cms (6"). Enough already!!!!!

On and Off the Needles, March 13, 2015

On the needles nothing much has changed since my last post, but I do have a few finishes to show. First up is a sweater for our grandson Hayden's 4th birthday. Brown and orange are his colors, and I can't wait to get a picture of him modelling it.
Hayden's Birthday sweater
Next are a few small finishes. I am planning to put together a package to send to Wool-Aid (www.wool-aid.org), helping children in Tibet, Mongolia, Syria, and Kazakhstan. I had a large box of 100% wool given to me by my aunt, so this is a good way of using some of it up.

Should have lots of knitting time......we are under another winter storm watch, 20-30 cms for Sunday, another 10-15 cms for Tuesday, and yet another 5-10 cms for Weds.!!!!!!! Will it ever stop????
Head on over to Judy's blog Patchwork Times and check out what the others have on their needles this week.

Winter in Prince Edward Island

You might say we have a bit of snow! Last week's storm left us with 86 cms of the white stuff, and a week later some of the roads are still one lane paths. And guess what? Tonight and tomorrow we are getting more snow, possibly mixed with rain. What a mess. Hubby and I went for a drive this afternoon and took a few pictures.

The road is not very wide!

Can you see the minihome?

On The Needles, Jan. 16, 2015

On the needles is a pair of crazy (leftovers) socks. I have tons of little leftover balls of sock yarn, so I'm planning to make a pair for each of my three 13 yr. old granddaughters.

On the needles, Jan.09,2015

Well, the holidays have come and gone. We had a great visit with my mom and dad in Ontario. We also got to see both of my brothers, my uncle Brian, and my Aunt Betty. The weather was perfect for travelling. We got home just before the extreme cold spell, and now we are getting snow. Just before Christmas, I got a petit point picture back from the framers. It was stitched at least 20 years ago, so it was about time it came out of the closet!

As far as knitting, a few things are on the needles. A pair of socks for our daughters birthday later this month.
Amanda's Birthday socks
A pair of heavy socks for hubby. My aunt gifted me with a box full of roving and another box full of Briggs and Little wool yarn, so I need to make lots of heavy socks, thrum mittens, thrum slippers, etc. These were going to be for me, but Dale took one look at the color and fell in love, so they will be for him!
Heavy socks
Our dog Lacey has a hard time staying warm in the cold weather, so I made her a snuggle blanket.

My first 2 pairs of thrum mittens were finished in December. I'm hoping to make many pairs and maybe sell them at our local craft fair next November.
